Lit Art (aka Lampshades!)

Roses All Around
DESIGNING A CUSTOM HAND-PAINTED lampshade starts with the deconstruction of an existing shade. The 'art' shade is re-created using 140 lb. watercolor paper - once the artwork and piercing are complete, the paper is adhered to the metal frame with grosgrain ribbon and finished with decorative trim. The final result is a work of art that is beautiful even when the lamp is not on - truly magical when glowing with light!
I often use a client's original shade to create the new one to insure compatibility. I can provide a new shade to use but details of lamp base size and design are necessary. Shades attach in three ways: clipping to the bulb; fitting onto the bulb socket; or attaching to a harp with a finial. (Bell-shaped shades cannot be customized.)

I typically consult with my clients about design and color details, and welcome fabric swatches and photograghs for inspiration and coordination. Prices vary with size and complexity but generally range from $75 to $350. Each shade is made to order and I complete each step myself. Shipping costs are additional.
